Bill Gates Predictions

The Microsoft co-founder imagined much of the tech we use today before it even existed. He shared his thoughts in a 1999 book called "Business @ the Speed of Thought." Here's a quick look at 6 of his predictions that eventually came true, including a device you are probably holding in your hands right now. From Tech Insider.

It’s crazy to how helpful online recruiting is today. Such as finding employees and employers online. You can reach thousands more people then you could’ve before these sites existed. You used to just have to accept whatever people walked in to fill out an application which was really limiting. Smart advertising is something that always creeps me out a little bit. Such as when you look up something you are just curious about an all of a sudden every website you go to is advertising the product for you trying to convince you to go ahead and buy it. With technology changing and growing so rapidly what is the next major invention that we won’t be able to ‘live’ without?

Online recruiting has become the dominant tool in the job search for both employees and employers. Given the technological advancements of today, TV and social media/the internet would have inevitably become dependent on each other. One thing Gates predicted that surprised me was the use of personal assistants; these devices have caught on a lot quicker than I thought they would. A question I'd ask is: What technologies do you think will emerge in the future?

Three important things I saw in the video were:
1.The “personal assistant” referred to as echo, can perform “numerous tasks”. I think that seeing the personal assistant now is just the start of where technology will take us. Looking back at the echo in 10 years will be like looking back to the cassette tape.
2. Most online adds are based on your searching and purchasing history. My husband tried to get me to delete my cookies all the time, but honestly, I don’t want to because I want those shoes, I’m just watching them until I’m ready to buy them.
3. Hundreds of million users use Twitter. I didn’t realize it was that popular. Compared to billions of users for Facebook.
The title says Predictions from 1999. Do you think that realistically this isn’t “predictions” but are just concepts that were thought of in 1999 than it just took so many years to have technology developed and catch up to ideas from 1999?
I learned to pay attention to tv much closer. I never realized that every show has some sort of hashtag or link to get you to go to their page. However, now that I’m recalling programs that I’ve been watching lately they all have the hashtag or go vote for someone at the link listed below.

The three most important things I saw in the video were to first say that Bill Gates is an intelligent man. I learned that he predicted there would be employment opportunities online. He also predicted that technology would connect to devices in a smart way. Just looking at this videos, it shows that this man can visualize a lot of smart ideas.

If I had to ask a question of my classmates on this for them to discuss, it would be do you think that being a great visualizer can bring you farther in life?

The three most important things I saw in the video were that first off Bill Gates was a brilliant mind ahead of his time. Also, the things he predicted would come true have been very useful in everyday life. Online recruiting is a very big part of getting jobs in today's society. Another thing is that it is crazy to think that in today's world there would be so many voice responding items of technology that can regularly interact with what you are saying to it. I would ask my classmates what they think will be a possibility technology wise in the next 10-20 years.

After watching this video I learned that Bill Gates made assumptions about the future that ended up coming true. He stated that there would be job opportunities online, which people utilize LinkedIn. Also, he predicted the use of social media an outlet where friends and family can come together, some social media websites are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snap Chat. Also, Bill Gates stated that there will be personal assistants that can connect to smart devices, now we have Google Home and Amazon Alexa. If I had to ask my classmates a question I would ask them what do you think off Bill Gates predicting the future? Are you shocked? Also I can take what I have learned from this video and pass it on to others, as it was really interesting.

The 3 Most Important things I saw in this video were:

1. Bill Gates literally predicted the entire 21st Century.

2. Bill predicted that there will be "Smart Advertising" which meant that devices will know your purchasing trends for future purchases.

3. Bill predicted that there would be "Personal Assistants". Ex. Siri, Alexa

Three things that stood out to me in the video were first, Bill Gates was ahead of his time and how he could predict all of these future tools, Secondly, How practical the things he were predicting were. Things like online hiring for example just make recruiting that much easier and also more accurate. Thirdly, how he predicted social media when the idea was almost unheard of back then. He predicted something that would be one of the most used tools in today's society. If I had to ask a question to the class it would be what future dreams do you see becoming a reality?

It's kind of mysterious and creepy that Bill Gates could predict all of those things. But everything he said is normal to everyone today. The smart phones and devices, the social media, the internet, and more are necessities for every day life now. It's how we communicate and conduct business. This makes me very curious about our future and the amazing inventions that we can only imagine to see in our lifetimes.

A question to the class would be how do you think Bill Gates knew to predict these things?

Bill Gates was definitely precise with predicting the future with technology. What stuck out to me was the prediction of smart phones. It was destined to happen because Apple was growing at such a fast rate even before he made the predictions. Apple, Windows, and other similar companies are paying attention to what attracts people. I believe these products and advancements are becoming very evasive. In the next 20 years, I believe we won't even need to control the device physically because they will be smart enough to act on there own based off of repeated habits. My question to the class is will technology basically end up like the movie from Disney channel with the house that went crazy?

The 3 Most Important things I saw in this video were:

1. Bill Gates knew that technology would become an everyday thing, that it would takeover how we live

2. Many of his predictions came true as far as technology goes, including smart phones and devices that can do almost everything.

3. Gates knew that these smart devices like cellphones would be able to store information on individual people such as showing things that people are interested in.

First important thing that I got from this video is that Bill Gates is a genius. He knew what would happen in the later years for technology innovation. The next important detail is that it was great he predicted online applications because it is way more convenient to apply online. Lastly the things that he though would come true because he believed in those things. He new that the devices he was building would be able to track the things that we buy.

This video was interesting. I think that the predictions that Bill Gates made are remarkable.
The question that I would ask my classmates is if they could make a prediction about something that technology would potentially be capable of doing in ten years, what would it be?

My whole family are practically computer geeks so I practically am also. My father respect Bill Gates technology wise. Bill Gates is a very smart man and we all know this already. He was able to practically read the future with technological advances. Because of some of these things he predicted it has helped and hurt a lot of people in the business world. It helps with recruitment for companies and several other things and thats what i've learned from this video. A question I would ask my classmate is, are you wary of what you put on the internet?
