Lucy offers a different perspective on women in business than I normally encounter, and she gives great advice. I learned that a vision and plan for the future are important, but you can be successful without limiting yourself and to stay open to potential opportunities. I also learned that it truly is never too late to take new opportunities, as Lucy didn't open her restaurant until she was in her late forties. Lucy also discussed her first restaurant venture that failed, and the importance of listening to the market and adjusting to what they are demanding, even if it's not what you expect. I can practically apply her risk-taking advice to my personal life and future in business, as well as the idea that there is nothing wrong with being successful as a woman. Particularly in the south, there can be a certain stereotype associated with a driven, business-minded woman, and Lucy defies that and owns it.

When starting a business, you don’t have to go into it thinking it is going to be huge, but you do have to allow yourself and the business to grow. Every now and then we need to remind ourselves that it’s okay to have successes and failures. The best way to succeed is to take a look at your failures and learn from them. You need a plan and a vision for a business but keep your options open. I can apply this to myself by reminding myself that failure is just a new way opportunity to try something differently.

The most important point I took away from this video was to learn from your mistakes. Also, don't expect your business to succeed or fail, work hard and the rest will work itself out. Finally, in business, listen to consumers. Don't get stuck on an idea just because its how you envisioned it. If consumers are responding well to something, cater to it. Make it a bigger part of your business. I ask my classmates, when you fail, do you get angry? Or do you make a point to figure out why you failed, and make adjustments so that you will succeed? I can apply this by making a point of learning from my mistakes.

I felt that there where three great points to take away from this video. First being while you do need a plan of action, you also need to stay open to new ideas and opportunities because you never know where the wind will take you. You don't want to miss on an opportunity because of a limited mindset. Second is, its never to late to chase your dreams. Lucy didn't start her restaurant till she was 46. Third is you have to give yourself permission to be successful (she mentioned this from a female part of view but i feel it also applies to a male point of view). In todays society its almost looked down upon to be part of the rich, If you have big goals don't let society/family viewpoints hold you back.

Three important things were that allow yourself to be successful, accept your failures and learn from it, and you must have a vision or plan of where you want to go. I learned that you have to keep your doors open and accept opportunity. It's never to late to try something new and be successful.

The first thing I learned is that there are fewer women CEOs than there were ten years ago. You have to make sure that any failures you acquire in life become lessons. You can always learn from your mistakes. I also learned you must always have a plan for where you want to go in life, or at least open yourself up to the plan being revealed to you. You must always be willing to go to new places and try new things that may be out of your comfort zone. I can apply this to my own life by opening myself up for different opportunities. I can allow myself to experience different jobs and careers that maybe I didn't originally see myself doing.

What I enjoyed from this video was Lucy's trial and error approach in opening her business. At first when the market wasn't in high demand, she fell back and let business take its course. After this, she listened to her instincts and tried again at a more demanding time. What I learned from her is that when things don't work out the first time, that doesn't consider your idea a failure.. It is just simply at the wrong place or the wrong time. Secondly, she pursued her dream of becoming an owner to her own business, regardless of her brother's success. I am currently in a situation where I am trying to advance in my career, and it is taking some time. Patience is a difficult trait to have, but in the long run it can be very rewarding.

I can apply what I learned in the video by not limiting myself and giving myself permission to be successful. That means not being hesitate to take the opportunity to be greater and knowing when I fail, I would learn from those mistakes.

If I had to ask a question of my classmates on this for them to discuss, it would be do you have a vision or plan of where you want to go? With anything that wants to be done, you must first have a vision for it and believe that it is possible to be achieved.

There were many points Lucy Buffett made in the video but a few really stuck out to me. The first point she made was that today there are fewer women CEOs than there were 10 years ago. Secondly, she mentioned how if you want to become a successful CEO you must have visons and plans of where you want to end up in life. This will assist you on your journey as a motivational factor. Finally she mentioned for her viewers to see their failures as lessons and to keep an open door for opportunities in life. If I had to ask a question to of my classmates to discuss, I would ask them if they ever thought about starting their own business or plan to. I’d also ask what motivates them to continue doing what their doing and why they want to be so successful in life. I can apply this information I attained from the video in my own journey. Sometimes I’m presented with failures and sometimes I don’t know how to handle them. Now I understand that there is a time to mourn and a time to learn from it, move on and make better of the situation.

This is such an empowering video for women. But it's so crazy that their are less women CEO's then their were 10 years ago. That's crazy, you think in a world where women are getting stronger and more independent it would be more, but unfortunately that's not the case. If I had to ask my classmates a question (females) what would stop them for creating a business? The key take away is there is no age or gender that can take away from success, all you have to do is keep motivated. Don't allow yourself to fail and stay down. Get back up again and make things better. Failure is not an option.

What I have learned from this video is that I am, like many women, a nurturing and caretaking role in society, however, I should not let that interfere with my capabilities and my goals in life. I have plans and ways to succeed while also keeping an open mind to the opportunities that may come my way.

Something I took away from the video is that here is no such thing as being “too old” for success. Treating failures as lessons rather than defeat is an important tool for success. Another important thing I saw was that goal setting is useful, but it is the hard work that will take you there. My question for this video is: Why do you think there is a lack of women in leadership and managerial roles in the business world?

The three most important things that stood out to me is that there are fewer women CEOs today than there were ten years ago. In today's society it always seems like there are more and more women and minorities as CEOs so that statistic surprises me. Secondly, she talks about how you have to work hard and you have to fail. Turning failures into lessons is how you shape your career and how you can learn and turn a negative into a positive. Thirdly, she talks about having a vision of where you want to go, but have an open door to opportunities which can lead to bigger and better things. A question I would ask my classmates is do you have a vision for where you want to be in your life and do you have a plan to get there?

Ms. Lucy definitely had some motivational points. The main three that stuck out to me:
1. Having poise or collecting yourself to realize there is an opportunity in something that does not look possible at the moment.
2. Having a vision towards your success or your business.
3. Not limiting yourself.

Having the poise to focus and constantly remind yourself the reason why you start your business will get you far. The problem with most people is that they can not envision and Ms. Lucy said to notice and focus on the opportunity that you have. Secondly, envisioning is another way that can keep you on the right track towards having success in general. In my opinion, if you do not see yourself succeeding chances are you will not. Lastly, when you envision you can not place limits on your dreams. In, conclusion I was inspired by the raw emotion she gave in the video about not being afraid to be successful from a woman's perspective. My question is how far out of reach are your goals/dreams?

And Lastly, Lucy stated that you must have a vision and a plan to know where you are planning on going. If I had to ask my classmates a question I would ask them, “Do you think it is important to have a plan, even though plans sometimes don't work out?” I will take Lucy Buffett’s advice about having a plan and knowing what direction I want to head in, in life.

Lucy Buffett is an inspiring business woman who actually failed... I learned the importance of failing and learning from your mistakes. Also, you have to be confident in your choices. Plan out where you want to go, while keeping an open door; you never know what could come your way. A good point of discussion is when do you know that you should make business changes? Would you wait for your dream to fail or would you make the difficult, but necessary changes needed?

An important note I got from this video is to learn from failure. Too many people hit failure and stop. They let it defeat them while the best take the failure and roll with it. You didn't lose, you just now have a leg up and a hint on what to do next time. I wasn't sure what to gain from this video as I am a man. I wasn't sure what I could learn from the part about women CEOs, so when she started talking about failure I took all the information I could. I would ask my classmates to look at times they failed and plans they abandoned, and see what they learned from the experience and maybe try again.

The things I took away from this Video is how important it is to learn from your mistakes and to learn from them so that you do not repeat them. It is also important to be open minded. We’re so comfortable with things that we already know and even though we don’t know for sure if they are right we would rather do the same things over and over again rather than do something new. It is important for women to get equal opportunities. While men and women both need to be more open minded, employers need to be open minded as well.

The first thing I learned from Ms. Buffett is that failure is okay. She talked about how her first project failed, but she continued and used the failure as a guide to make her restaurant what it is today. Secondly, she pointed out to not limit yourself. By keeping an open mind and not limiting yourself, you or what you’re working towards can grow exponentially and be led towards opportunities you never expected. Lastly, she points out the importance of giving yourself permission to be successful. I will apply this to my life by focusing on the learning opportunities that come with failure instead of just focusing on the failing part.

The three most important things I learned from this video are: give yourself permission to be successful, preserver, and make sure your failures are lessons. First, give yourself permission to be successful, work on your inner self and know that you can be successful. Second, persevere, when times get hard don't give up, try harder until you given all you have. Lastly, learn form your failures, failures are our greatest lesson in life they make us better. How I can apply this video to my life is to strive to better even when I don't want too.

A question that I would ask my classmates is: Do you have a vision for your future and a planned course of action to get there? Something that I can apply to my everyday life is the fact that there is much to learn from failures. You have to realize that you aren't going to be perfect at something the first time you do it and that you can only get better from there if you put in the time and effort to recognize what went wrong.

Lucy Buffett is very inspiring and gives lots of important points regarding how women can succeed in business. She says that first we have to give ourselves permission to be successful. I found it surprising that there are less women CEO's than there was 10 years ago. Why aren't there more? Ms. Buffett also explains that we shouldn't be afraid to fail and if or when we do, we should not gjve up but see the failure as the end but use it as a learning tool and try again. We must ask why it failed and what needs to be different. She also expresses that it is important to have a plan or vision and strive toward that goal while keeping an open door to any other opportunity that may come your way. You also need to ramain centered and grounded enough to see other possibilities.

The three most important things I saw in the video were:

1. She had to give herself permission to be successful, and it took some inner work within herself.

2. Lucy advised that you work hard, have skills, and have little failures. Once you have failures, turn them into lessons.

3. No matter your age or where you are in life know that "IT IS NEVER TOO LATE", being that Lucy started her first restaurant at the age of 46.

1.There are less woman in entrepreneurship positions then there was years ago.
2. Its ok to be success, you must fail a little bit. Your failures must be lessons
3. You must have a vision or a plan or an intention. Keep an open door for any opportunity that comes your way.
Has anyone been to any of her restaurants?
She’s very good at empowerment, its really a shame she didn’t go into motivational speaking. I took away from this that as a woman you can really go for anything.

The big thing that stands out to me is that Lucy tells us to look at failures as lessons and learn from them. And to not let your failures to knock you down, but if you do to get back up and keep pushing. If you truly love something you can accomplish anything and you will become successful.

I know Lucy because of Jimmy Buffet, only because I love his music. I never knew his little sister opened a restaurant, but I do know margaritaville and I love the place. Restaurants are a very risky business and are very hard to keep open. Lucy is very inspiring for many women, her first business failed but she didn't give up. She tried harder and opened a new place and made the correct adjustment. She inspired many women to become entrepreneurs. My question to ask my classmates is, do you find Lucy to be inspiring.

What I learned from this video is that women are getting more and more in the business industry. Ms. Lucy shows every female that you only limit yourself to what you can do. You have to keep striving towards the goals that you set out for yourself. You can't be afraid to fail. If you fail you should always get up and try again. When you have an opportunity you have to go for it.

Today there are fewer women CEOs than there were 10 years ago. We have to keep in mind to never limit your business. When you hit your goal of certain business, don't hold yourself from continual growth. Let your business grow to where it needs to be by keeping an open mind.
Some women have to give themselves permission to be successful, with our caring and nurturing instincts some might hold themselves back from their full potential success. I think it's important that everyone know to not feel embarrassed or limited by the failures they encounter. Rather look at them as lessons and search for the best way to improve. I will apply this to my business by trying not to limit myself by thoughts, or actions because I know what I am able to achieve.

Lucy showed me how important it is that women be CEO's and entrepenuaers. You have to know that you cannot limit yourself. Allow the company/ restaurant to be as successful as it can. Do not put a cap on how large it can be. Make your failures into lessons and learn from them. You must have a vision and a plan in order to be successful but you still have to be open to things that will get thrown at you throughout your time. I would ask my classmates if there are any women who want to open a business or restaurant and I would tell them to go for it!

Lucy makes a great point in owning a business. You have to have a plan whole being open minded to new ideas and new growth. A business is work and of course you are going to make mistakes, but do not give up just because you have a struggle. You can do anything you put your mind to as long as you believe in yourself.
